Yes, it's been a while since my last post. Granted I have been busy with out of town guests, seeing new/old friends, having my kitchen renovated, dealing with the consequences of losing a best friend, weekends on Fire Island, going on strange dates, prepping for my next show, family issues, applying to random things, and last but not least ... getting myself an intern.
These last few weeks have also reminded me of something I thought was missing in NY. Love. My good friend/former office wife, who I call G got engaged to her amazing boyfriend of 4 years. I won't bore you with details of their love story but selfishly their engagement reminded me that love in New York is possible. At times, a city like New York can be the worst possible city to be single in. Carrie Bradshaw made it seem so easy! But it's moments like discovering your friends got engaged that reaffirms your belief in the possibility of love in New York.
Anyway .... I hate that it's June and time already feels like it's flying by. In these last few months all my thoughts are about my up coming projects and I wanted to share some of the process pics. Also I thought some random pictures + videos would be hilarious too.
A photo of me in my studio is currently on page 102 and 103 of the spring issue of Resource magazine. Clearly by the hair cut and the unfinished works the photo was taken a few months back. (should I have kept my longer hair????? personally I'm torn. please let me know what you think)
I recall the night the photographer Young Kyu Park came over to my studio. I just returned from a long day of work and I totally forgot he was coming over. I was exhausted, starving, and in no mood to have my photo taken. Because of Kyu's playful attitude I cheered up, pulled out a toy gun, snakes, and a smile. The photo itself is shot beautifully but if you examine the materials around me closely it's a clear indication of the works I am currently making and of things to come. Also, some clearly stolen items are visible. (HUGE MISTAKE) I should have taken a moment to hide things better or "clean up". Lessons learned for the next time someone with a crazy expensive camera is over at my studio.

I celebrate yet another birthday, the past few days have been more then eventful. Each night a different set of friends took me out for drinks, dinners, and at some point I ended up The Plaza Hotel for a black tie event. Naturally, while at The Plaza I ran into someone I haven't seen in about seven years. Was it strange . . . yes. Did I want to make small chit chat . . . no. When people say New York is small, it's really fucken small. I had to make a quick get away before the night was over. Nonetheless, I do appriecate my friends and I wanted to share some of these moments with you:

Aside from my birthday I have been busy in the studio. Making a mess and taking some random photos. I have been working on the "Saint She'Ra" piece. It got done early last week and I took some photos just for you. I hope this gives you an idea of where my works is headed and what my show in the fall will look like. Enjoy . . .
A week or so ago I was walking around my neighbor (doing something I can not mention here) and I noticed it was really foggy. It looked like what I think London looks like very day. With that said I took a bunch of pictures.
I'm sorrrrrrry! It's been weeks since my last post and once again I have a million reasons as to why I haven't posted anything. This time I will not bore you with details but instead show you proof.
The following are images after hours in the wood shop where my panels have been made. Naturally once there are in done I need to stretch canvas, gesso and the glue the shit out it. The glueing process takes a lot longer then you'd expect. (those pics are for next time)
I will have my next "V" panel done this week. It will be called "Saint She-Ra", from the 80's cartoon where she fought for freedom, liberty, puppies, and all that good stuff. Just kidding ... She fought along side the "Great Rebellion" to end oppression and slavery. Pretty intense stuff for a cartoon aimed at little girls and gay boys.

As some of you might know (or have seen images of) I am working on a few 7 foot panels for a solo show in the fall. Between now and then I have decided to also work on a handful of mini panels. These will be slightly more playful and much more NYC apartment friendly. They measure 25"x15"x2" which is much smaller then their 7'x3'x2" counter part. Check out some of the pics below. . .

Maybe it's the lame winter we are having in NY but I have been producing work like crazy. I have been cutting out so many images, working on new panels, and finishing up pieces that have been in the works for so long. Here is a sneak peak at what I currently doing in the studio:
